End of winter

Every March I can't wait for spring/summer and this year was the same. Here are just few snaps fom my last Elan ski shooting.I am sure that in September I will hardly wait for snow again!

Karina Hollekim

My friened Mac organised freeride camp on Kanin ski resort again and this year he had a special guest from Norway, Karina Hollekim.
Karina is a very special girl. She is one of the bravest girls on the planet. A great freerider and B.A.S.E. jumper.
Last year in one of the jumps her parachute didn't open and she hit the ground with more then 100 km/h. She had 21 fractures on her leg but today, one year after the accident, she can walk again!

I think everybody who has met Karina has changed their perspective of life.

Lindsey Vonn

Hi everybody,

here are some news from the last two weeks.
I had an assignment for Redbulletin magazine in Sestriere (Italy)
Shooting with the best women downhill ski racing Lindsey Vonn was fun.
Usually I don't have more than 30 minutes for shooting with the world's best athletes ( they are super busy) and this time it was the same thing.
First day I meet Lindsey and her husband Thomas at the finish zone of DH track in Sestriere. They knew that I was coming and we decided that we will do some portraits the sameday. We met in Pragelato the same afternoon and we did some really nice portraits.
Next day shooting was about 20 minutes long. Lindsey come directly from practice run in her racing suit to do the shooting like she is on the start of the race.

Hello everybody,

after a while some news and few new images in news section.
January and February are the busiest months for me every year and that is the reason why I didn't update so long.

I was in Kitzbuhel, Schladming, Maribor to cover ski racing. Last week I spent few days in Sestriere in Italy where I had a portrait shooting with best women DH skier in the world, Lindsey Vonn.
You will see these photos in your copy of the Redbulletin magazne next month.

This Sunday I am Leaving to St. Petersburg Russia where I will cover Laureus World Sports Awards! I can't wait!

Morgi did it again :)

Yes, he did it again-his fifth victory in a row. I think he is writing history this season.

For me it was a pretty difficult job. It was a night event so the light was not really good. I had problems with my cameras again so maybe I will switch the brand like a lot of photographers will in the next months...

Bad Kleinkichheim FIS ski racing

This weekend I was busy working in Bad Kleinkichheim where I covered ski racing world cup. Here are a few snaps. More here and here.

New season of world ski racing started

New season of world ski racing started and I will again spend winter with Agence Zoom and cover races for them and for Getty images. I couldn't cover the Sölden opening because I was on Hintertux with Elan snowboards team where we were having catalog shooting for the next season. So the first two ski races for me were in Reiteralm near Schladming where FIS held the two races from Levi where there wasn't enough snow.

Reiteralm was covered with snow and especially on Sunday when the snow was really wet it was hard for us to shoot because our front lenses ware totaly wet in 5 minutes and it was impossible to clean them. But it was fun and I can hardly wait for the next race!

Elan Snowboards photoshooting

I have been connected with snowboarding for the last 17 years. First as a racer and now as a photographer. Last winter I took a short break from snowboard photography. I really needed it because I was sick of everything connected with this sport. So I was shooting more ski racing, freeride ski etc.

This year Elan snowboards organized their photoshoot for the first time so early, in the beginning of winter and we went to Hintertux with the team.At the begining I was a bit rusty but later everything turned out fine. I felt again how much fun it is to shoot with all this easy going guys and no stress at all!

Fingers crossed for a winter with lots of snow!!!

Photoshooting in Beijing with Kate Allen

I spent 6 days in Beijing with Kate Allen, olympic triathlon champion from Athens 2004. This was the most difficult shooting in my career. First it was raining non stop for three days, with water up to my ankles in front of our hotel.

On a "sunny" day in Beijing you can't really see the sun and the blue sky because of the smog during the day, so I was on 400ISO 60 F3,5.... Kate was very motivated to get some good photos so at least this time I had no problems with the athlete which can sometimes be the biggest problem for a photographer. I also had a great assistant - Marcel, Kate's husband!

Thanks again Kate and Marcel for helping me survive this ;).

As you can see on my website, shooting swimming is something I enjoy very much. Shooting with our best Slovenian swimmers was for Slovenian Sport magazine (revija Sport) where I also work as a photo editor.

It is always interesing to see how some athletes, like Sara Isakovic, are willing to cooperate to get good shots while others just can't be bothered.

I had an assignment for Japanese soccer magazine F style to make some portraits. The shooting lasted for only 15 minutes but it was fun!

Corinna Schwiegershausen photoshoot

Corinna Schwiegershausen - Two times world hanggliding champion 21/07/2007, Greifenburg, Austria

I met Corinna Schwiegershausen at ISPO in Munich in February where I was shooting some portraits for Red bull photofiles and we agreed to make some action photos this summer. It took some time to hook up because we are both quite busy. I was occupied with other shootings and work with my house in Bled and Corinna works as a stewardess with Lufthansa on long distant flights.
My plan was to capture her during the flight from different angles so I attached one of my cameras on her glider. At 7 a.m. she started and I went down to the village with her car to pick her up for the second flight. I was quite nervous what the result would be and after she landed we checked the photos and the result was great. Later she flew two more times and I attached my camera at different positions to get some more angles from the air.

Dombai - Russia

Ok I am back and it was a great experience for me and for Russian
photographers! Red bull Russia organized a photo challenge for Russian photographers with the intention of picking a few of them to shoot for Red bull.

So I was Red bull Photofiles representative there. My job was to organize everything, present the photofiles and their standards, etc.
After a day of shooting everybody made a selection of their photos and I found few realy nice shoots.

Later in Fuschl, Ulrich and Markus took the final decision about who will cover Russia. But for me it was a really scary experience to fly from Moscow to Mineralnye vody and back with an old Tupolev. I am afraid of heights and if you see jet gas dripping from the wing fuel tank before the take off......not a nice scene. Sitting next to me was a French climber and I don't know which one was more afraid :)
